The following images are not meant to be exact. The actual cabinet wood
color and door style will be different. The images are for general design
appearance only. Some cabinet detail may also be different from what is
generated by the computer. The appliances used are not the actual
models.

This view shows the sink / cook top walls. The tile patterns and colors are limited by the CAD program. I tried to come up with something close to what you requested. The sink window shown is about 5 foot wide. A wider window could be used, but the wall cabinet storage will be decreased. An optional window valance is used to tie the wall cabinets together. I set the valance back to add some degree of personality to the design. I included many drawers because you noted that you liked drawers. The microwave is close to the cook top and refrigerator for convenience.

This view shows the oven / fridge wall. I left a fair amount of space for a header over the refrigerator. The built-in oven and refer are slightly set back into the closet wall. This should look good and allow for the doors to open properly. The desk area was replaced with an under-counter fridge, and counter area. The optional decorative valance was added to create a happy casual feel to the nook area. The two tall cabinets shown should make up for the loss of your pantry closet.

The island shape was changed to create a more traditional feel and give you a prep. sink. The optional tall corbels add a unique character to the back of the island. The optional arched counter top adds interest, too. I have included optional fixed decorative door panels to the ends of the cabinets. The back of the island might have optional bead board paneling. The wall cabinets might have an optional under cabinet molding.

The island face shows large storage and plenty of working counter. The optional furniture base with toe kick cut out wraps the entire island to show off the corbels and finish off the back properly.

The transition into the sunken family room is marked by the short book cases. I show this space with an optional wood top and optional mullion doors. I do like the lower 18" high cabinets so that you can see the fireplace below, but 30" high cabinets might also be a nice choice.

I included this top view so that you might get a better idea of the flow of the space. Please note that items appear distorted in this 3-D picture. I assure you that there is plenty of room for traffic patterns in this design.
