How long does it take - from order to delivery?

Delivery times will vary depending upon our work load. Usually we can deliver
Fashionable Enclosures brand cabinets in 8 - 9 weeks and Eli Sperry brand cabinets in 10-12 weeks from the date of order. Building a quality cabinet takes time. Cabinets with a shorter lead time may skip many important steps in construction. You may call us to check our current lead time
( 207-667-4439 ). Lead times can vary from 7 - 14 weeks.

Before I spend this much money, how do I know you are a reliable company and not some internet hoax?

We wish we didn't have to answer this question over and over again, but the internet does seem to scare some people. First of all, you are not the only buyer making an on-line purchase from us. We sell cabinets to homeowners across the country. We also hold a certification from an international company called "Thawte". Thawte investigates businesses to determine if that business is what it claims to be and whether consumers may safely make credit card purchases from that company. Do you sell stock cabinets (quick delivery) or economy brand cabinets?

We use to sell stock and semi-custom cabinets, but found that there were too many problems
with these types of cabinets. Even when customers opted for the plywood up-grades in these types of cabinets, problems were still too frequent to meet our high standards. We like to sell a project

Can you deliver cabinets to my home?

We deliver cabinets to most locations from Maine to California at no extra charge.
We have a ten cabinet minimum order, meaning we do not ship less than ten cabinets. We deliver cabinets on a tractor trailer truck 65 ft. long and 13 1/2' high; so you must be sure a truck of this size can reach your location: no low overheads, no tight one way streets, all roads must be paved, and ample legal parking is a must. We cannot deliver via island ferry, and do not make overseas deliveries. We can deliver to a shipping company if you wish to ship your cabinets to a coastal U.S. island. If we deliver to such a shipping company, you must make the arrangements with that shipper to have your cabinets brought to your final location. At this time we do not ship to locations outside of the USA.

There are sometimes instances when it is impossible for our large truck to reach an inner city or remote jobsite location. In these few instances, we may have to make special shipping arrangements for your delivery, and there may be a small site delivery fee.

Can I sell your cabinets?

We do not sell our cabinets to resellers. We have one price for all buyers, though we will work with and frequently do work with architects, designers, builders, and contractors.

How much does shipping cost?

We usually ship cabinets at no extra charge (10 cabinet minimum order). There are, however,
instances when it is impossible for our large truck to reach an inner city location or remote jobsite
location . If your delivery location is unable to accept a 65' tractor trailer truck, we may have to make special shipping arrangements for your delivery, and there may be a small site delivery fee. Small items ordered after you receive your cabinets are shipped via UPS and may include boxing and UPS shipping charges.

How do your prices compare to other companies?

If you are comparing our products to other high quality custom built cabinets, our prices will be extremely competitive. We don't sell economy brands and other lesser quality cabinets found in some of the large retail chains. Such cabinets just don't last. We believe a kitchen should be a one time investment. Please review the box below for more specific information.

KraftMaid, Brandom, Kemper, Decora, Schrock, Yorktowne, Diamond, Legacy, and other semi-custom cabinets.

We price about the same, but are built better than:
Plain N' Fancy's all wood version, Bertch, Omega Custom

We price about 10 - 15% less than:
WoodMode, Rutt, SieMatic, Studio Becker, Crown Point, Brubaker, Crystal, DBS, Fieldstone, Heritage, Neff, Omega, Plato, Poggenpohl, Quality, Snaidero, and other medium to high quality cabinets.

Do you quote large apartment projects or developments?

Generally our cabinets are not found in large commercial projects or developed housing. Our products are constructed with the best materials and are crafted as fine furniture. Even though our pricing is outstanding, there are products of lower quality that usually win the low price bid for these kinds of development projects.

If you use cabinet codes to describe your cabinets, please take them from our Fashionable Enclosures catalog. If you have never designed a kitchen before, use our catalog as a size guide, hire us for design, or get professional help from an experienced designer.

It usually takes about 7-10 days to price most projects, but lead times may vary depending upon our work load. Please include the following important information ( please print or type ):

  1. Name (on each sheet)

  2. Day time phone number - We will phone you with questions and pricing.

  3. Delivery address

  4. Door style and wood species

  5. Type of finish (stain, paint, antique,etc.)

  6. Date you need a reply

  7. Date you require cabinets

  8. Please make sure all notes and measurements are printed clearly
    (fax machines don't read pencil well).
    The floor plan should have room measurements, and show cabinet
    size and configuration (how many doors and drawers).
    If you have never designed a kitchen, please hire us to create your
    layout or get another professional to help you create a design that can be
    priced. Our free estimating service is based upon the assumption that we
    can review a plan or material list of items that are feasible to build.
    If you are unfamiliar with cabinet restrictions (door size limits, stress
    limitations, etc.) do not attempt a kitchen design without using a
    cabinet catalog and/or professional advice. Our free estimating does not
    include free design advice or trouble shooting. However, if you wish to
    place an order or hire us for design, we will trouble shoot your layout.

We sell cabinets directly to customers across the country and have
been doing so since 1997. We have never had a kitchen not fit.
As a matter of fact, almost every Internet customer has given us a referral

Can I see some customer referrals?

We have a lot of quotes from customers, magazines, etc. on our home page located here (half way down the page). Because we receive over 500,000 visitors to our web site each month, and many of these visitors want to contact one or more of our past customers, we cannot give out personal contact information. We do not wish to burden our past customers by flooding them with emails or phone calls, or compromise their privacy. You can be assured that we will not give out your personal information either.

After we have priced your space and you are ready to order, we will loan you color samples ( to see colors on-line click here ). If you need to see a door sample, we will loan one to you at this time also. Samples are sent to you in a returnable, self-addressed package. Please return samples to avoid being charged for them. Since we loan samples to many customers, the samples you receive with your sales package should be returned within 3 business days. How much does installation usually cost?

That will depend on your location and what local cabinet installers charge. We do not install cabinets, but we do hear back from customers regarding what their installation cost. Most customers report spending $30 -$40 per item ( each piece installed ). Using this as an estimate base, you should be able to get a good idea of what your space might cost.

What happens if I receive damaged cabinets?

With our professional furniture drivers, damage is extremely rare. We do not warehouse cabinets.
Your cabinets are picked up at the factory and delivered directly to your location (less handling is best). If you unload a damaged cabinet from our delivery truck, just make note of the damage on the packing slip before signing off, and we will see to it that any problems are corrected. Call us as soon as you can to report the damage so that we can speed up and monitor the replacement process.

If you plan to store your cabinets* before installing them, you must inspect the cabinets prior to storage. We expect you to notify us of damage on the day of delivery or shortly thereafter.

*Always store cabinets in a controlled atmosphere. Do not store cabinets in an area with extreme
changes in temperature or humidity.

What happens if the cabinets do not fit?

We have been selling cabinets for over 20 years. If you provide us with accurate room dimensions and appliance information, your cabinets will fit your space. We job check your order at least three times before we order the items to insure a proper fit. We also add trimmable scribe (filler) to account for most structural inconsistencies. If your room is extremely out of square or plumb, please let us know prior to ordering cabinets so additional measures can be taken. We can also be available to speak with your installer before and during installation in case the installer has questions. To insure that your installer can conference with an experienced designer, it is better to call ahead (207-667-4439) and let us know when and how to contact your installer.

If my installer has a left over piece of molding or filler, can I return it?

Because all of the items we build are custom made to order, they cannot be returned. Each kitchen item we build is unique, and would be extremely difficult to resell. We frequently order extra molding or fillers if we determine that they may be required during installation. It is better to have an extra piece than to run short when the project is almost finished.

How do I pay for my order?

We accept Master Card, Visa or certified bank check. No personal checks, please. Paying by credit card is the safest way to make large purchases. Most credit card companies protect you in case of fraud. If you do not receive your purchase, you do not have to make payments to your credit card company.

If you do not have a credit limit on your credit card large enough for the cabinet purchase, you might call your credit card company and discuss your cabinet purchase. Most credit card companies are willing to increase your limit for a one time purchase of this type.

Your bank or mortgage company may issue a bank check for this purchase. We provide the necessary sales documents that banks and mortgage holders require to release funds.
The sales documents are sent to you at the time of purchase, just return payment (certified bank check) to complete the order.

You may make payment using multiple forms of payment (i.e. Visa 25%, Master Card 50%, and Treasurer's check for the balance).

We do not accept personal checks.

What happens if I don't receive that special item I wanted?

During the kitchen planning process, a customer may request multiple revisions. Some clients might spend days, weeks, or even months considering multiple options before they arrive at a final plan. We try to include every important detail, but it can be difficult after many revisions to spot something mentioned earlier in the process that may have been omitted from the final plan.We want your order to be complete and strive to avoid this problem, however, we do rely on your approval of the final sales package. If you have made a specific request, please verify that what you requested is shown on the floor plan or listed in the material list included in your sales package before you order your cabinets. This final sales package is our way of making sure you receive all the items you requested. We ask that you review this sales package carefully before you order. If an item is not listed, we expect you to let us know. The price you are quoted on your sales agreement includes only those items shown on the plan and material list.

If an item is shown in your sales package and you do not receive it upon delivery, please call us ( 207-667-4439 ) so that we can expedite delivery of that item. Since we check the final plan many times during the order process, items are rarely missed.

Policies You Should Know


Cabinet damage is rare, but to avoid problems, please follow these guidelines:

Upon delivery, it is the customer's responsibility to inspect all items for signs of damage. This is especially critical if a wrapper shows signs of damage. Any damaged or missing piece must be noted on the driver's packing list before you sign for delivery. Minor damage ( a minor scratch or ding ) can be easily taken care in the field using the free touch-up kit included with your order. Please call Absolute Kitchen and Bath at 207-667-4439 to report missing or damaged items as soon as possible. Any item damaged in shipping will be replaced.

DO NOT INSTALL ITEMS THAT NEED TO BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED. CALL 207-667-4439 IMMEDIATELY FOR PROMPT ACTION.

- Warped Doors -

Doors less than 26" wide and 48" high are warranted against warpage of more than 1/8".
Doors larger than either of those dimensions are warranted against warpage of more than 1/4".
All doors over the above stated limits need to be ordered as multiple panel doors for the warranty to apply.

Experience has shown that some cabinet doors may warp slightly after installation due to low humidity. In most situations the door will return to its normal flat position after going through one heating cycle. Before requesting a replacement for a warped door, please lay the door down on a flat surface to confirm that it is warped. Often times a new cabinet may be installed unevenly (racked) causing the door to appear warped.

- Storage -

Proper storage of the product after delivery is necessary to keep the warranty valid. Prolonged
storage at high or low temperatures or extremely high or low humidity can severely damage your
cabinets. Fluctuating temperatures or humidity caused by improper storage can cause stress to the product joints and finish and may result in loss of coverage under the cabinet's limited warranty.
