I took the liberty to make a few changes to the original plan. This new plan, however is not cast in stone.
You mentioned that the homeowner wanted a "shaker style" and that is on of the reasons I made the changes.
I swapped the cooktop and the sink. Having such a large cooktop in the island with little overhang didn't
seem like the safest idea. The cooktop in the island also gave the kitchen a contemporary feel
( not really shaker like ). It should be easier to down draft the range in this
new location too. In an ideal situation a kitchen of this size would have
more wall cabinet storage over a large run of counter top. To maximize wall cabinet storage, I also
moved the location of the double oven cabinet.

This view is taken from behind the island.
Note that removing the oven cabinet creates
an open feeling and allows for better wall cabinet storage over a nice work space.
The wall cabinets are also closer to the sink making it easier to store items after washing.
The back of the island has two turned posts and table skirt supporting an overhang.
The seating position makes it easy to access the refrigerator without getting in the way of
the cook. This also allows for entertaining or gazing out the windows.

This view shows the cabinets hung at 96" with an inverted base molding and
crown. The oven cabinet was moved to this wall and seems to work well here.
The counter across from the ovens could be an ideal bake center / prep area.
The counter top below the microwave serves as a place to set hot or cold items.
The refer. has end panels on both sides. To the left of the refer. an optional display
space makes the room feel light as one looks in from other spaces

This view gives you a better look at the cooktop. Note the ample drawers for pots and pans.
The narrow top drawers can house cooking utensils. The down draft can be vented through the back
without having to drop below floor level. This will give the vent unit more pulling power since
the duct run is short. The vast counter space is also a big cooking advantage.

This is the face of the island showing optional
furniture base board toe kick and dishwasher
door panel. The island is a little over 5ft. long.

This view shows optional turned posts and skirt supporting
counter the overhang. Base board molding would wrap
around the island. The back could be a flat matching panel,
fixed doors, or beaded paneling. The island ends can have
optional fixed doors to create a furniture look.

This is example #1 of the decorative pantry area.
