I created an alternate design which has multiple improvements.
This view shows the sink and lots of counter space in the "L-shape".
There is ample room for
cleanup and preparation.
I altered the shape of the islands by creating one shape.
This allows the cook and clean up person better access to all of the kitchen.
The island seats four, houses a cooktop/oven, and a prep sink.

Having the refrigerator on this end allows for bigger cabinets
and helps to keep traffic out of the work area. It also allows for counter space next to
the oven cabinet for hot items. I have placed a panel above the refer. and two
end panels to enclose the refer. Note the extra large sink is centered under the window.
The microwave is located above a second wall oven.
The trash compactor ( if used ) may take the place of the drawers to the right
of the sink cabinet. The mixer lift cabinet could go on the wall oven side, but
please note that many people are unhappy with this lifting shelf.
It may also be possible to have the mixer hidden behind an
appliance garage on the counter top.

The island has three counter levels. The upper level protects the person seated
from spills. Please note that having the cooktop near seating requires extra
supervision of children. The cooktop is at standard height. The prep. counter with small sink is at a
lower height ( optional 30" + - ) so that a chair can be placed at the counter for working.
Many cooks find this easier than working while standing. When the chair is pushed in
all the cabinets are accessible. When the chair is out, some the drawers to the right of the cooktop
may ( just barely ) hit the chair when fully open.

The end of the island has an optional book case cabinet. The prep. counter could be
supported by a base cabinet or legs as shown. The prep counter could also be at
standard height. If legs are used an optional wooden skirt could be placed between
the top of the leg and the base cabinet to offer a more finished look.

Another view of the island without skirt.

The island cabinets would be backed up to a half wall. The half wall can
be covered with matching paneling as shown in this image.
There are many other coverings that could be applied
( i.e. matching doors, bead board, formica, tile, etc. )

Top view shows the island with a 45 degree angle and 36" range on
the L-shape wall instead of wall ovens.

A view from behind the island. The counter top is all one level. The back of the
island could be finished with a number of different treatments ( i.e. plain wood
paneling, false doors, beaded paneling, tile, wallboard, etc.)

This shows the range and refer walls. Note the trash compactor is to the right
of the sink cabinet. I located a microwave shelf to the right of the range.

A view of the island front. The mixer could be kept in the cabinet to
the right of the sink base. Optional mixer lift could be provided.
