The Greenleaf's Kitchen

The following images are not meant to be exact. The actual cabinet wood
color and door style will be different. The images are for general design
appearance only. Some cabinet detail may also be different from what is
generated by the computer.

Top View
This is a top view of the plan. As I placed the cabinets
onto the floor plan, I became even more concerned
with the space between the peninsula, chimney, and
refrigerator. I would highly recommend that instead of 30"
counters ( at the window wall ), you use 25" deep.
In the above plan the base cabinets are pushed tight against the
window wall. The lazy susan base cabinet has the left leg of the L-shape
built to 42" ( instead of 36" ). I feel strongly that this should
be done to enlarge the traffic space going through the kitchen.

Sink Wall
This view shows the sink cabinet set at 45 degrees. Note the
pantry cabinet mounted into an opening in the wall at the height
you requested. You may wish to run a trim around the pantry
cabinet opening, but it is not required if you can finish the opening
for a tight fit ( after installation of the pantry ).

Range View
This view shows the range and microwave/hood. To the left of the
range is a plate rack cabinet with small drawers below. Since your
ceiling slopes, I recommend that you hang cabinets at 87" plus
an inverted base molding and crown. This means that 33" high wall
cabinets should be used. Installing cabinets this way leaves the
standard 18" space between counter top and bottom of wall cabinet.
This measurement ( 18" of space ) should be maintained so that modern
small appliances ( toaster ovens, blenders, etc. ) can fit under the wall cabinets.

End View
This view gives you a better look at the kitchen from the pantry wall.
In this view you can see the end of the chimney wall. Note that proper spacing
has been planned between the chimney and the half wall.
I would also like to discuss doing away with the knee brackets under
the counter overhang, but we should talk by phone to go over this idea.

This view shows the back side of the chimney.
